When Green Becomes Tomatoes | Little Lit Book Series

This is far and away one of our absolute favorites from 2016, shared by @carterhiggins:

The winter solstice!  A cozy kind of day to remember the seasons, and how they end, and how they smash right into the next one.  This book does that with all the wait and hope of watching green become tomatoes, and it relives each year in snippets of poetry.

The poem for December 21st is this:

as if, one day, the mountain decides
to put on its white furry hat
and call it winter

When Green Becomes Tomatoes was written by Julie Fogliano, illustrated by Julie Morstad and published by Roaring Brook Press.
