London calls! We’ve always admired Paul Thurlby’s work and love his L IS FOR LONDON, both an alphabet book and a tribute to “The Square Mile.” In it you’ll find London’s famous landmarks, streets, treasures and quirks for every letter of the alphabet, mixed in with bits of the city’s history. An interesting search-and-find — a fox — is cleverly woven into each page spread. (You’ll have to read the book to find out why.)
One of our favorite letters is Q for queue. “Britons spend six months of their life queueing, another word for ‘waiting in line.’” Also included is one of London’s most well-known and loved bookstores. Can anyone guess its name or has anyone ever been?
